Assistant School Safety Agent

Beacon Summer Camp Volunteers

Sunnyside Community Services Beacon Program at I.S.5Q offers a volunteer program that provides high school students with hands-on training to enhance their resumes, along with the opportunity to complete community service hours that may be used for college or other purposes. Job Opportunities in Early Education

The Division of Early Childhood Education has shared potential opportunities in which alumni or parents/guardians may qualify. The Division of Early Childhood Education works with contracted Community Based Organizations (CBOs) that offer early childhood education (birth - 5 years old) throughout NYC who are seeking to fill various positions.  Please note the positions listed below are not with NYC Department of Education/NYC Public Schools; rather, these are private, independent businesses that collaborate with us. Salaries, schedule, and benefits will vary by employer. There is an ongoing need within their contracted CBOs for various roles, which include:

  • Teachers (certified and not-yet certified)
    • Ideal for candidates who have a college degree in early childhood education and a birth-2 certification, or candidates who are enrolled in a college degree program working towards their early childhood education degree and birth-2 certification. 
  • Teacher Assistants 
    • Ideal for candidates who are 18+ and have a high school diploma/GED. Preference for candidates who have prior experience working with little children and/or working towards getting a college degree, and/or working towards getting their Child Development Associate (CDA).
  • Teacher Aides (part-time)
    • Ideal for candidates who are 18+, have a high school diploma/GED and have availability to work during the daytime. 
  • Cooks/Assistant Cooks
    • Ideal for candidates who have a Food Protection Certificate.
  • Family Service Workers
    • Ideal for candidates who have a college degree in Child Psychology, Counseling, Family Services, Social Work, or a related field. 
  • Health/Safety/Nutrition Monitoring Specialist 
    • Ideal for candidates who have an associate degree in any subject, or a CDA, and a certification or experience within health, safety, and/or nutrition.  
  • Additional Roles as Needed

Candidates will be required to create or sign in to their GMail account in order to fill out the application and upload their resume. Their team will share your info and resume on an ongoing basis with their contracted CBOs that may be hiring. It is very important that candidates tailor their resume and include specific education/credentials and specific relevant experience they have, especially involving working with little children. City Positive Youth High School Summer Internship Program

High School Students have the opportunity to participate in the City Positive Youth High School Summer Internship Program, taking place from July 1 to August 8, 2025.

This program, hosted by City Mission, offers students the chance to:
•         Earn 100 community service hours
•         Receive a certificate upon completion
•         Collaborate with local elected officials
•         Strengthen emotional intelligence and leadership skills
•         Address real issues impacting the Elmhurst community

This is a valuable experience for students interested in civic engagement, community organizing, or exploring leadership development in a supportive and impactful environment.
